He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God. John 1:11-13 HCSB
God has blessed me with four wonderful children, all of whom I am very proud. They have grown into responsible adults who are making a positive contribution to society and in God’s Kingdom. Even if one of them had chosen a path that would have brought dismay to our family, he or she would still be my child. Once my child, always my child. There is nothing one of them could ever do that would remove my love and mercy for him/her as my child.
Those who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior become children of God. Once God’s child, always God’s child. We cannot do anything that would change that fact. It is not by birth or by our own will that we become children of God but only by God’s mercy and love. We do not deserve to be His children, but by God’s grace we are chosen.
Challenge: Praise God that you are His child. You have been adopted into His family and you cannot do anything that will cause a change in your status as a member of God’s family.
