She is not afraid for her household when it snows, for all in her household are doubly clothed. She makes her own bed coverings; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known at the city gates, where he sits among the elders of the land. She makes and sells linen garments; she delivers belts to the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the time to come. Proverbs 31:21-25 HCSB
While working with a group on a Habitat for Humanity home, there were two men who were putting on the roof. They were contractors by trade and could work circles around everyone else because they knew what they were doing and they were willing to work hard.
The Proverbs 31 woman was a hard worker. She made sure her family had nothing to fear because they knew she would take care of them. Doubly clothed could also be interpreted as wearing heavy clothes that would keep one warm. She also made sure her family had the best and were dressed in fine linens. Her husband was well respected in the community and was considered to be one with wisdom. In addition to being a hard worker, the Proverbs 31 woman was also a good business person. She sold goods in the marketplace to make money she could use to purchase other goods for her family. Because she was so well prepared, she did not have to worry about the future and could laugh at the time to come.
Challenge: Be a hard worker and do everything you do with excellence. Take care of your family and make sure they are well cared for. Save and be prepared for tomorrow so you will not have to worry about your future.
