Persecuted

As he traveled and was nearing Damascus, a light from heaven suddenly flashed around him. Falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul. Why are you persecuting Me? Acts 8:3-5 HCSB

In the news we have heard of Christians in the Middle East who are facing persecution because of their beliefs. Some are being ridiculed while others are actually being killed. Even here in America there are stories of Christian students who have been told they cannot talk about Jesus at school. There is even a magazine produced each month called the Martyr’s Voice that tells stories of people around the world who are being persecuted because of their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Saul felt that it was his duty to track down all of the people who believed in Jesus and tell them they must stop talking about Jesus or face being killed. He had already killed several Christian believers. As Saul approached Damascus a bright light from Heaven caused Saul to fall to the ground. Then he heard the voice from heaven asking, “Why are you persecuting Me?”

Challenge: God could ask many people to answer the same question, “Why are you persecuting Me?” Our daily actions speak volumes and sometimes we are actually persecuting Christ and His kingdom by how we conduct ourselves each day. Pray for wisdom and direction as you seek to serve God.
