Are You Filled With The Holy Spirit?

Then Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and said to them “Rulers of the people and elders: If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man – by what means he was healed – let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene – whom you crucified and whom God raised from the dead – by Him this man is standing here before you healthy. Acts 4:8-10 HCSB

Compare the difference between the Peter filled with the Holy Spirit with the Peter who denied even knowing Jesus Christ. When Peter was standing around the fire warming himself to see what was going to happen to Jesus Christ who had been arrested and taken to stand before the Jewish leaders, he was identified as one of Jesus’ disciples. He denied even knowing Jesus three times. The Peter filled with the Holy Spirit boldly stood before the Jewish rulers who had just ordered Jesus to be crucified and defended his own actions with those of John in healing the disabled man. He clearly claimed that the man was healed by the name of Jesus Christ whom the Jewish council had crucified but whom God had raised from the dead.

Today those who are filled with the Holy Spirit can boldly witness for Jesus Christ and confidently know that Jesus will give them the power to stand against any who are opposing them. When someone accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within that person. The Holy Spirit convicts a person of sin, gives direction, and even provides boldness and confidence so a person can give a strong witness for Jesus Christ.

Challenge: As a believer, you can be assured that you are filled with the Holy Spirit. Tap into the power that the Holy Spirit can give you and pray for the same type of boldness that Peter had as he stood before the Jewish council.
