The one who reads this is blessed and those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it are blessed, because the time is near! Revelation 1:3 HCSB
Encyclopedia Britannica reports: “Religious leaders, scientists, and even a hen (or so it seemed) have been making predictions for the end of the world almost as long as the world has been around. They’ve predicted the destruction of the world through floods, fires, and comets.” Some of the failed doomsday predictions include: The Maya Apocalypse; Harold Camping; The True Way; Halley’s Comet Panic; The Prophet Hen of Leeds; and The Great Flood. The Bible tells us that no one knows the hour or time that Christ will return (Matthew 24:36).
When John says, “The time is near” he is conveying an urgency to act now rather than to delay. He is not trying to set a specific time table for the return of Christ and the end of the world. As Christians we do not have to worry about the future or the end of time. We can be confident and look forward to that day when we will be in heaven and will live forever in the presence of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Challenge: Are you prepared for the end of time? We should all be prepared for the last judgment and establishment of God’s kingdom. We do not know the time, but we should live each day as if that day was the last day we had to live. There will be no second chance to make a decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.
